Sofa Reborn

We recently stopped by the home of our friends Dave & Jessica to see their "new" sofa. Dave had found the remains of the poor old thing in somebody's trash, and decided the frame was sturdy and in good shape. All it needed was to be reupholstered.

Well, just look at the sofa now! Aren't the patterns gorgeous? I like the multiple fabrics used. I think it will look great in the room. It's a comfortable and large sofa, too. Right now, they are still worried about the dog and cats getting at it. I always have that problem, myself. Our cats have clawed every upholstered chair we've ever had. None of the tricks seem to keep them away.

I wish my friends many long and happy years with their beautiful sofa. And if anyone has any good advice for how to keep cats from scratching furniture (other than declawing!) please let me know!

What a great find! Regrding cats and furniture we have found that the 'Sticky Paws' from Pet Smart work great!

I second that! You only have to use the Sticky Paws until the cats get the picture, we don't need to use it anymore. It's easier to start off with Sticky Paws than to try and break them of the scratching habit later.

Thanks Kim & Teresa! But I have tried Sticky Paws in the past. Penny seems to be distracted by it. But Phoebe will scratch anywhere of the furniture that's NOT covered in Sticky Paws, including the seats cushions, back, and arm tops! We virtually could not even sit on the furniture ourselves if it was covered with Sticky Paws! I think I've given up on Phoebe and upholstery, and we're just learning to live with the scratched up furniture! :(

what a beautiful sofa! a great upholstery job....and this sort of thing seems to be pretty popular right now.... different patterns and colours that look lovely together.
Cats.... I used to have some all the time...and I do love them... but, now.. with a husband that doesn't really care for them..plus his allergies anyway... and the thought they would wreck my new hard won furniture.... I guess we will just remain cat-less....
