Well, I Googled vinyl lace shelf trim and found that Amazon is selling something very similar! The pattern is a bit different, but it's made of vinyl like mine. Much easier to keep clean and lasts longer than the old-fashioned paper shelf trim my mom had when I was a kid!
I prefer the vinyl edging in the kitchen, but in my side-by-side secretary where I display my teacups in the parlor, I just tacked on real lace edging I bought at the fabric store! You're sure to find something you love there. I selected this white eyelet trim.
I'm going to order the vinyl version from Amazon. It's just what I've been looking for to finish off my cabinet!

Thanks for sharing this! I actually had wondered myself about your lace trim and thought how pretty it looked and wondered if it was fabric lace from a fabric store, or if it was vinyl, but always forgot to ask. Now I know!
ReplyDeleteHi Katie-
ReplyDeleteActually when I bought the vinyl trim years ago, I had no place to put it, but thought it was such a cool idea! Sometimes it's those little details that make something look special, as you well know! :-)

Dear Pam,
ReplyDeleteI love this look and have considered using it for my shelves as well. Thank you for the info and for sharing the source! Love it!
Hope all is well and that Spring comes to your neck of the woods real soon!

Hi Miss Sandra-
ReplyDeleteIf you decide to put some lace edging on your shelves, maybe you can blog about it so we can all see! Yes, I wish Spring would hurry along... I can't wait to open my windows to let the fresh air in again! :-)

This is lovely trim. I have made my own from newspaper and liked the look, but this is lovely. Sea witch
ReplyDeleteHi Sea Witch-
ReplyDeleteNewspaper! I would love to see how you do that and what it looks like. It seems very economical, too.

Oooo...I like it!!! It makes the shelves look so vintage and pretty:).
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Kim
Hi Kim-
ReplyDeleteI like that sometimes the smallest detail can make such a big difference in the way something looks. It's just a matter of finding those details that make each of us smile. :-)

Thanks for answering the call! I also looked for vinal lace edging on line...I was surprised to see that there is not much out there, with all the shabby shu-shu going on. I will check out Amazon again.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much!
Marcie
Hi Marcie-
ReplyDeleteYou're right, you'd think there would be more products like that available. I think shabby chic is still pretty popular with a lot of folks, and that would fit right into that niche!

I love this! I knew I'd seen something like this before, but I'm redoing an old book shelf for my daughters room. It's over 6' tall, double wide, steardy oak, but only had four original shelves. I was using it for my books and has six additional glass shelves, but you can do the math= I'm down to 2 as glass and books don't mesh! (when it crashed I thought there was an earthquake).
ReplyDeleteSo I got four plywood shelves cut at the hard wear store and they have been filling in. But I'd like to use it in my daughters room, as her Aunt is sending her porcelain doll collection. I'm painting the interior back and the shelves pink to match her wall and will be putting some sort of shelf edging on.
I found you on google and I am very excited for the inspiration! I'm literally in the painting process right now! I've still got curtains to sew and I may use that fabric to coordinate if I have enough, and if I can figure it all out!
Thanks for the inspiration!

Hi Designer Diva-
ReplyDeleteLet me know if you use any edging like this! I ordered the Amazon lace edging and it's perfect, just what I was looking for. I think it would great on your daughter's bookshelves. Sounds like a very ambitious project! :-)
